Bumax Grades

Bumax is the Swedish manufacturer of Bumax Grades that focuses on fasteners for in extreme conditions where a combination of high corrosion resistance as well as high tensile strength is required.

The fasteners are fully traceable through a 3.1 or 3.2 certificate. Only European materials and raw materials are used for the production of the bolt and/or nut, these are also CE marked.

Bumax 88 (stainless steel A4)

These fasteners have unique properties that give better performance than standard stainless steel A4. It also has higher corrosion resistance and higher yield strength.

Other benefits include:

  • Tensile strength equal to carbon steel in 8.8 grade
  • Mechanical properties (yield strength, elongation after fracture, elongation)
  • Less magnetic
  • Higher resistance to fatigue

In addition, the properties are achieved because the material has a higher Molybdenum content (at least 2.5%).

Bumax 109 (stainless steel A4)

Bumax 109 offers the same advantages as the 88 over standard A4 stainless steel. The unique advantage is a tensile strength equal to a bolt in 10.9 grade.

This unique characteristic is achieved through a specially developed production process using only the best European raw materials.

After all, all fasteners are produced in Sweden and are traceable through a 3.1 or 3.2 certificate.

Bumax 109 Super Duplex

Bumax SDX 109 is a high-performance material with excellent corrosion resistance. The SDX 109 provides protection against crack, pit and stress corrosion in aggressive environments, among others.

Due to a higher level of chromium and molybdenum, Super Duplex offers higher corrosion resistance than Duplex.

The Bumax 109 Super Duplex is particularly suitable for applications in refineries, petrochemical industries, offshore platforms and nuclear power.

Bumax Grades 129 Duplex

Bumax 129 DX is ideally suited for applications where high tensile strength is required in combination with ductility and corrosion resistance. The material has a minimum tensile strength of 1,200Nm and a yield strength of min. 1,080Nmm.

Other unique features of the 129 Duplex include:

  • Corrosion resistance - PRE >34 compared to stainless steel A4 PRE 25
  • Better fatigue resistance compared to stainless steel A4 and carbon steel 12.9
  • Lower expansion with temperature variations compared to Austenitic stainless steels

Bumax Duplex fasteners are also produced in Sweden and are traceable by means of a 3.1 or 3.2 certificate.
